Arthrosamid knee injections

What is ArthrosamidKnee injection

Arthrosamid a non surgical treatment for osteoarthritis of the knee. It is a polyacrylamide hydrogel (iPAAG) which is administered by intra-articular injection. Consultation: £50, One knee: £1950, Two knees: £3800

The Benefits
Arthomasid can improve your pain considerably, Doc Plus is the leading clinic for intra-articular joint injections.

Currently the NHS waiting times are 2 to 3 years for joint replacement surgery. The only interim options that are available to patients are corticosteroid injections and Ostenil Plus (Hyaluronic Acid)

Arthrosamid is a patented product hence the cost per injection.

How does Arthrosamid work?
A dose of 6ml of Arthrosamid is injected into the knee joint using the arthrosamid injection. This embeds itself into the synovial membrane(the lining of the knee joint). By doing this a barrier is formed which allows distancing of inflammatory cells and slows inflammatory signalling.

Arthrosamid is a non reactive and non-biodegradable substance which provides scaffolding for synovial tissue growth. Arthrosamid injection in Glasgow is a treatment option for those seeking relief.

How long will it take?
We allow 1 hour for the appointment.

When can I expect to see some improvement?
Our patients can expect to see reduced stiffness and improved mobility and reduction in pain within 2 to 4 weeks with continued gradual improvement for 3 to 6 months after the injection.

How long will the effect last?
Arthrosamid is a relatively new treatment however Contura the company that produces Arthrosamid has produced hydrogel products for more than 20 years.

Centura has produced more than a million hydrogel products which have been injected into the human body.

Latest data shows that Arthrosamid continued to be well tolerated and was clinically relevant at reducing pain at 5 years after treatment. The follow up will continue for 5 years.

All Contura’s hydrogels products consist of 2.5% cross-linked polyacrylamide and 97.5% non-pyrogenic water.
